Although not confined to the hospitality sector, CATRA is the only employers’ organisation representing employers at the Bargaining Council for the Restaurant, Catering and Allied Trades.

The Bargaining Council, established by employer organisations and trade unions, is responsible for negotiating terms and conditions of employment within its jurisdiction. CATRA plays an active and influential role in these negotiations on behalf of employers.

Once negotiated, collective agreements are published in the Government Gazette by the Minister of Labour and become legally binding on all employers and employees within the council’s scope. CATRA assists members in understanding and complying with these agreements.

CATRA is also a party to the Statutory Council for the Fast Food, Restaurant, Catering and Allied Trades, further strengthening our role in sector-wide labour relations.
